Hunderfossen Familiepark Gears Up for New Rally Flåklypa Media Dark Ride

As snow melts in the Norwegian mountains, BoldMove Nation has confirmed that installation of its new media dark ride at Hunderfossen Familiepark is on track, ahead of opening in June.

Rally Flåklypa will join a themed area dedicated to Norway's famous inventor Reodor Felgen and his companions, the characters featured in a series of successful animated movies. This summer, park guests can participate in a high-stakes race from Paris to the Pyramids, delivered through a sophisticated blend of smart technologies, immersive storytelling and 3D decoration.

Synchronised Media and Vehicle Movements

Working alongside the park's technical team, installations are progressing to accommodate the new Rogue Rides trackless ride system and final media footage from Qvisten Animation. Fitting all technical elements into an existing building with a compact footprint required strategic design choices regarding sightlines and forced perspectives. BoldMove notes that the intimate space has proven beneficial for theming, allowing for a more immersive and detailed environment.

A fully automated preshow will guide guests through the queue line, where the main characters introduce the rally mission. The Il Tempo Gigante race car, which was recently revealed at Oslo airport, features prominently and can be viewed from multiple angles during the experience.

To maximise immersion, the attraction utilises hidden projection equipment and special effects. Media and vehicle movements are fully synchronised via BoldMove's new Kamino show control system, which manages the vehicles, AV, and special effects to ensure a seamless show. The team has utilised two test installations with ceiling-high screens to fine-tune trajectories and media animation.

Hunderfossen Familiepark to Launch Immersive Rally Flåklypa Attraction from BoldMove Nation

Hogne Høstmælingen, Park Director at Hunderfossen Familiepark, said:

"We are excited to see the attraction come together after all the preparations and construction work. This is one of our biggest investments since the park opened in 1984 and will strengthen our position as the Fairytale park. The combination of Norway's strongest IP, funny new stories that come to life, and state-of-the-art technology will without doubt amaze our guests."

Authenticity through Collaboration

BoldMove says that a convincing Flåklypa universe has been recreated through a high level of detail during the architectural and theming phases, and their ride and theming design experts worked closely with Qvisten to ensure the DNA of the IP is respected. This collaboration ensures characters like Reodor address visitors directly during the preshow and ride, fully engaging them in the narrative. Theming production specialist Kabuki has applied specialised fabrication and finishing techniques to the 3D decor elements and wall paintings throughout the facility.

About Rally Flåklypa

The animation movie was released in Norway by Qvisten Animation last Christmas. It features the inventor Reodor Felgen, an IP created by Kjell Aukrust. The story follows Reodor and his friends, a fearless bird and a neurotic hedgehog, as they enter the legendary Paris-Dakar rally to promote their eco-friendly fuel, "Methane Rapido Potente". The fuel is derived from cow-burps and cow-farts. To prove its potential, the team must overcome sabotage from electric car mogul Ellen Busk in a thrilling race through city streets and deserts.
