Parks and Resorts Scandinavia Launches Search for New Group CEO

Parks and Resorts Scandinavia, the leading amusement and wildlife park operator in the Nordic region, has officially initiated a search for a new Group CEO.

The announcement follows the departure of current CEO Christer Fogelmarck, who is set to lead Visita, the trade and employer organisation for the Swedish hospitality industry.

Fogelmarck will conclude his 15-year tenure with the group on May 31. Under his leadership, the organization which operates Gröna Lund, Kolmården, Furuvik and Skara Sommarland, solidified its position as a powerhouse in the attractions sector, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors annually.

A Legacy of Growth

During Fogelmarck’s time with the group, Parks and Resorts Scandinavia evolved into a SEK 1.6 billion turnover enterprise, employing roughly 4,500 people during peak seasons. Mattias Banker, Chairman of the Board, expressed his gratitude for Fogelmarck’s contributions:

"I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Christer for these years. His energy, commitment, and leadership have played an important role in the development of Parks and Resorts. I wish him every success in his new role—one that will undoubtedly keep our paths closely connected going forward."

Looking Toward Future Investments

The recruitment process is already underway, led personally by Banker and the Board. The major search comes at a pivotal time for the group, as it prepares for a period of intensive development and expansion across its portfolio.

"We have an exciting period ahead of us, with significant investments planned across our parks in the years to come," Banker added. "It will be very interesting working with the Board to find the best person suitable to lead us into the future."

The appointment of a new CEO will be critical as the group navigates the competitive European attractions landscape and executes its long-term investment strategy for its four iconic Swedish destinations.
