Six Flags Bets Big on Major Horror IPs for 2026 Halloween Season

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has unveiled its most ambitious Halloween strategy to date, introducing an unprecedented collection of globally recognised horror franchises and immersive original experiences for the 2026 season.

The expansion solidifies the operator's position in the highly lucrative seasonal event market, rolling out across North America's biggest properties.

Building on the established success of its signature autumn events, Six Flags is introducing 11 new haunted mazes inspired by blockbuster entertainment and gaming brands. This brings the expanded portfolio to a staggering 29 licensed haunted attractions, 196 themed scare zones, and a total of 448 Halloween themed experiences coast to coast.

Unprecedented IP Integration

The 2026 lineup represents one of the attractions industry's most robust collections of licensed horror intellectual properties, delivering deep storytelling and cinematic environments.

Key strategic partnerships for the upcoming season include:

  • Blizzard Entertainment: Diablo: The Infernal Path debuting at Kings Dominion and Cedar Point.
  • New Line Cinema: Final Destination: Death's Playground and The Conjuring Universe mazes scaling across multiple parks.
  • Horror, Inc.: JASON: Blood Reign bringing Friday the 13th to Carowinds, Kings Island, and Great Adventure.
  • Lionsgate: Blair Witch: No Signal and SAW: Legacy of Terror expanding into key regional markets.
  • Netflix: Army of the Dead arriving at Great Adventure.

"We're taking Halloween to an entirely new level in 2026," stated Kelly Daugherty, Six Flags Director of Entertainment. "With legendary horror franchises, immersive haunted attractions, expanded scare zones, live entertainment and nighttime ride experiences, we're delivering our most intense and most complete Halloween lineup ever. Guests won't just watch these stories unfold, they'll step inside them."

Monetisation and Event Strategy

To capitalise on the expanded offerings, Six Flags is implementing a flexible access model for its haunted mazes. While daytime family events like Kids Boo Fest remain included with standard admission, evening scares will largely utilise the Haunted Attractions Pass. This tiered system allows guests to purchase single evening access, season long scares, or a premium Express Pass for priority entry.

Notably, Knott’s Scary Farm will continue to operate as a separately ticketed premium experience, highlighting the operator's diverse approach to seasonal revenue across different park tiers.

Expanding the Experiential Footprint

Beyond the high profile intellectual properties, Six Flags is transforming its park midways with 196 themed scare zones, elaborate sets, and atmospheric effects. An all-new premium offering, Varnum's Traveling Pit Show of Oddities at Six Flags Over Texas, will blend immersive horror with live entertainment, demonstrating a continued industry trend towards deeply interactive, multi sensory guest experiences.
